Woodland Wedding at Evenley Wood Garden
Tess & Tommys beautiful diy woodland wedding
Tess & Tommy’s stunning DIY woodland wedding at the beautiful Evenley Wood Garden was definitely one of my most memorable weddings of last year. Landing right in the middle of a crazy heatwave (media fears of melting roads and all that), it was hot! Very hot! But where better to have your ceremony on a day like that than in the middle of the woods under the canopy of all the beautiful old trees. Tess loved the fairytale feel of Evenley Wood when they first visited, and felt immediately calm and at home.
‘The vision I had was to keep it as relaxed, intimate, and as fun as I possibly could. I wanted it to be a bit different. My biggest fear is guests standing around like it’s all a waiting game’
Styling a woodland wedding
Planning their wedding, they wanted a very relaxed and intimate vibe with lots to entertain their guests in the in-between moments of the day. They went for a rustic, bohemian theme for their wedding styling, with Moroccan and antique influences, and I’ve got to say, the whole place looked magical. Their celebrant-led ceremony was held within the beautiful woodlands, surrounded by nature. They decorated the ‘aisle’ with home made bunting made from pulled pieces of colourful fabric, and created the seating areas with a mixture of wooden benches and antique chairs that they had collected during the planning process. They had brightly coloured flowers on a big hoop at the top of the aisle as well as bunches lining the aisle to add even more colour to the area.
The tipi for the reception was situated in a lovely grassy clearing making it a perfect area for everyone to gather. The styling for the tipi carried the natural greenery from the outside in, giving it a real outdoorsy feel throughout. The green space in front of the tipi had various seating areas scattered around from floor cushions to more antique chairs which gave the whole area a really nice chilled out vibe.
Vegan friendly wedding
One of the most important things to both of them was the whole wedding being vegan friendly. With it being a festival style wedding, they had various food and drink trucks to cover different aspects of the day. One of my favourites was the amazing vegan coffee truck serving all the guests various flavours of coffees and iced coffees.
The wedding breakfast was catered for by Fresh Rootz and was an amazing vegan chinese curry. They also had nachos with chilli for later in the evening that guests could just dig into when they felt hungry.
What Tess had to say after she saw the photos
“Absolutely breathtaking. I honestly don't know what to say and how to thank you. You have made me, a quite reserved, self-conscious person who lacks hugely in confidence with their appearance feel good about themselves. I have hand on heart NEVER felt that way before. The thought of a camera being on me all day terrified me. But I know now I was in safe hands. We lost memory of so many bits of the day and you captured so much so beautifully we were able to relive some of those forgotten moments. My mum and dad have also seen them and they cannot believe how stunning they are. You've captured each and every person there in their best light and everyone’s personality oozes from the photos, you haven't missed a single moment and that is thanks to your talent and determination to smash it.”
